Renowned LGBTQ+ Trailblazer Schuyler Bailar to Launch First-of-Its-Kind Podcast to Teach Gender Literacy and Tackle Controversial Issues

Dear Schuyler features newsworthy guests sharing their stories and breaking down gender, mental health, and civil rights topics

APRIL 24, 2023 — NEW YORK, NY   ✶  Schuyler Bailar, the acclaimed trans-rights advocate, educator, and diversity consultant, whose corporate clients include Apple, Nike, General Mills, and Capital One, launches his first podcast with DEAR SCHUYLER. Each week, Schuyler and his guests discuss how gender, mental health, and civil rights impact all of us daily. This timely, can’t-miss culture and lifestyle podcast from Diversion Audio features wisdom and spice from headline-grabbing voices including actress-comedian-activist Dylan Mulvaney, NCAA champion swimmer Lia Thomas, three-time NFL Pro Bowler and Super Bowl Champion Brendon Ayanbadejo, actor Rafael De La Fuente, writer/historian Blair Imani, artist/director Chella Man, musician Mila Jam, human rights advocate and author Alicia Roth Weigel, Olympian Megan Rapinoe, and many more. Schuyler’s work has taken him from locker rooms to boardrooms, from classrooms to the White House. Now, DEAR SCHUYLER brings these conversations to you.

Listeners are encouraged to submit questions about the latest LGBTQ+ news, self-discovery, and belonging (especially as it pertains to gender, race, and marginalization) at DearSchuyler.com. (Submissions are open now.) Every episode, Schuyler and his guests deep-dive into those questions while sharing their own stories, humanizing these conversations and offering transformative insights. Some topics will be lighthearted and provocative; many will be personal and news-making. Listeners emerge from each episode with an understanding and fluency to better navigate these dynamic topics.

“Debates about where trans folks do or don’t belong permeate every sector of society, despite most Americans claiming that they’ve never met a trans person. Through the 450 trans-inclusion trainings I’ve given, I have discovered a few sobering truths: Transness is not all that foreign when we center on humanity, and everyone has an experience with gender. Thus, these conversations are salient for everyone,” says Schuyler, who currently works with three Harvard-affiliated research labs in clinical psychology and public health. DEAR SCHUYLER brings this grounding humanity to a heavily polarized political atmosphere in deep need of humanization and education. I hope the podcast inspires listeners to step deeper and more intentionally into themselves, whomever they are.”

The first transgender athlete to compete on an NCAA Division 1 team and a member of Harvard’s men’s swim team, Schuyler is uniquely qualified to lead these conversations. He’s shared his story in appearances on ABC’s Good Morning America, BBC, 60 Minutes, and more. His tireless advocacy has earned him honors including the Harvard Director’s Award and LGBTQ Nation’s Instagram Advocate for 2020. He was also one of New York City Pride’s Grand Marshals in 2022.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Schuyler into our podcast family at this critical cultural inflection point, where discussions about gender are galvanizing everything from sports to entertainment to politics,” says Scott Waxman, CEO of Diversion Audio. “We’ve worked hard with him to ensure that this podcast speaks to both the LGBTQ+ community as well as those who seek a better understanding of these topics and want to become better advocates.”

Schuyler Bailar is available for interviews.
